Robert Tan received his Bachelors in EE and Computer Engineering from Monash University in 1985. He was with National Semiconductor and was a Staff Engineer at Delphi Singapore from 1990 -2004. At Delphi he was in product and test engineering of engine controllers. He also help start the Design Centre developing Engine and Transmission controllers. In 2004 he joined Infineon Technologies as head System Application for Automotive. In 2010 he setup and led the Systems Lab in Beijing to develop traction inverters collaborating with FAW, BAC, GAC and SAIC.
He was involved in engine controllers, inverter design, gate drivers, BMS design and EMC testing. He was a member of IEEE EMC Society. In 2017 he became System Architect for Battery Systems involved in HV and LV BMS designs. In BMS his interest is in wireless BMS, EIS , active balancing and state estimations. In 2020 he collaborated with NTU school of EEE on application of data models for battery state estimation. He has co published 3 papers with NTU in this field.
