This special session aims to explore the emerging convergence between next-generation electrified transportation systems and power grids. The rapid advancement of electric vehicles (EVs)\u2014including electrified land vehicles, ships, and aircraft\u2014is accelerating the integration of power and transportation systems, which have traditionally been managed independently. As these systems become increasingly interdependent, the operation and control of EVs has evolved into a complex, interdisciplinary challenge that demands collaboration between the power systems and transportation research communities. This convergence introduces new challenges and opportunities in achieving coordinated operation, resilient integration, and economic sustainability.
The session will provide a dedicated platform for academic researchers, industry practitioners, and policymakers to share insights and foster collaboration toward developing intelligent, sustainable, and future-ready power and transportation infrastructures. We welcome high-quality research contributions that address the modeling, planning, control, and policy dimensions of power\u2013transportation synergy.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
\u2022 Modeling and forecasting of charging demand of multi-mode electrified transportation (land, marine, and air vehicles)
\u2022 Coordinated electric vehicle charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies
\u2022 Operation & control of electric vehicles in integrated power and transportation systems
\u2022 Planning of charging\/discharging infrastructure for integrated power and transportation systems
\u2022 Market mechanisms for promoting electrified transportation and power grid interaction
\u2022 Resilience enhancement of integrated power and transportation systems

Zechun Hu<\/strong> received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Xi\u2019an Jiao Tong University, Xi\u2019an, China, in 2000 and 2006, respectively. He was a Research Officer with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and also with the University of Bath from 2009 to 2010. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, in 2010, where he is currently an associate Professor. His major research interests include optimal planning and operation of power systems, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems.<\/p>

Hongcai Zhang<\/strong> received the B.S. and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2013 and 2018, respectively. In 2018-2019, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. In 2019, he joined the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City of the University of Macau, Macao, China, where he is currently an Assistant Professor in Smart Energy. Hongcai Zhang\u2019s research focuses on urban integrated energy systems, transportation electrification, and demand-side resources. He has published over 100 SCI-indexed JCR Q1 journal papers in journals such as Nature Energy, Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering, and IEEE Transactions, including 5 ESI highly cited papers. Dr. Zhang is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, Associate Editor of Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, and Associate Editor of iEnergy. He is also the Secretary-General of IEEE PES China Energy and Transportation Nexus Subcommittee.<\/p>

Chengcheng Shao<\/strong> received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Xi\u2019an Jiaotong University, Xi\u2019an, China, in 2011 and 2017, respectively, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His research interests include the power and energy system planning and the integration of electrical vehicles into the power grid. Dr. Shao is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, and the Vice Secretary-General of IEEE PES China Energy and Transportation Nexus Subcommittee.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
