As electrical actuators evolve in aerospace, electric machine drives are becoming crucial for energy conversion and motion control. This special session focuses on the latest advancements and emerging techniques in electrical machines and drives for electrified aerospace actuators, including novel machine topologies, modelling and design methodologies, advanced control techniques, fault-tolerant machine drives and control, as well as system-level integration and optimization. We invite researchers and engineers to submit original papers that address technical challenges and present innovative solutions for electrified aerospace actuators. The scope of this special session includes, but is not limited to:<\/p>

1. Novel machine topology, modelling and multidisciplinary analysis for electrical actuators;<\/p>

2. System-level design and optimization methods for electrical actuators;<\/p>

3. High-reliability electrical machine drives and fault-tolerant control strategies;<\/p>

4. Advanced motion control techniques for electrical actuators;<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Xiaoyan Huang<\/strong> (Member, IEEE) received the B.E. degree in control measurement techniques and instrumentation from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical machines and drives from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., in 2008. From 2008 to 2009, she was a Research Fellow with the University of Nottingham. Currently, she is a Professor with the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, where she is working on electrical machines and drives. Her research interests include PM machines and drives for aerospace and traction applications and generator system for urban networks.<\/p>

Zhaokai Li<\/strong> received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2015 and 2020, respectively. He was a visiting student with the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K. from 2018 to 2019. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher with Zhejiang University, from 2020 to 2022 and with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, from 2022 to 2024. Between 2023 and 2024, he was also a Guest Researcher with ABB Corporate Research Center, Vaster\u00e5s, Sweden. He is currently an Assistant Professor with Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy. His research interests include analytical modeling and iron loss analysis for permanent magnet motor systems.<\/p>

Yiming Shen<\/strong> obtained his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2015 and 2020, respectively. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Shen served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, from 2020 to 2022. Since 2022, he has held the position of Research Fellow at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research focuses on the design and analysis of novel permanent magnet machines, with a specific emphasis on linear machines for direct drive applications.<\/p>

Zhuo Chen<\/strong> received the B. S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2018 and 2024, respectively. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University. His current research interests include the analytical modeling, optimization, and reliability analysis of permanent-magnet machines.<\/p>

Huanran Wang<\/strong> was born in Shandong, China, in 1995. He received the M.Sc. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., in 2019, and Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Ningbo, China, in 2024. He is currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow with the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.
